🔒 Aura is built privacy-first. Your cycle data is among the most personal information on your device. It never leaves your device or your own iCloud account. We collect zero personal data and operate no backend servers.
Overview
Aura ("the App") is an iOS and iPadOS period tracking application. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information — in short: we don't collect any. All data you enter stays on your device and, if you choose, in your personal iCloud account.
Data We Collect
None. Aura stores all data locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. The following information exists only on your device and your personal iCloud account:
- Period start and end dates
- Daily flow intensity
- Symptoms and mood logs
- Basal body temperature readings
- Personal notes
- Cycle predictions and history
- Notification preferences and app settings
- In-app purchase status (Aura Premium)
The developer has no access to any of this information, ever.
iCloud Sync
If you have iCloud enabled on your device, your cycle data and settings sync across your Apple devices via CloudKit. This sync occurs entirely within your personal Apple ID and iCloud account — encrypted end-to-end by Apple. We have no access to this data whatsoever.
Apple Health Integration
Aura can optionally read and write data to Apple Health with your explicit permission:
- Wrist Temperature (read): If you have an Apple Watch Series 8 or later, Aura can read your overnight wrist temperature data to automatically populate basal body temperature entries. This data is read from HealthKit on-device and never transmitted anywhere.
- Menstrual Flow (write): Aura can write your logged period data to Apple Health so it appears alongside your other health metrics. Data written to Health remains under your control within the Health app.
Health access is entirely optional. Aura functions fully without it. You can grant or revoke access at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → Aura.
Notifications
Aura uses Apple's notification system to send period reminders and ovulation alerts. Notification delivery is handled entirely by Apple's infrastructure. No notification content is sent to any third-party server. You can manage or disable notifications at any time in Settings → Notifications → Aura.
In-App Purchases
Aura uses Apple's StoreKit framework for all purchases. Transactions are processed entirely by Apple. We do not receive your payment details, Apple ID, or any identifying information when you make a purchase. Purchase status is verified locally on your device.
Third-Party Services
Aura uses no third-party SDKs, analytics tools, advertising networks, or crash reporting services. The app contains no tracking code of any kind.
Sensitive Health Data
We are aware that menstrual health data is among the most sensitive personal information. Aura's entire architecture is designed so this data cannot leave your control: there are no developer-operated servers, no data uploads, and no third-party integrations that could access your cycle information.
Children's Privacy
Aura does not knowingly collect information from anyone. The app contains no mechanisms to collect personal data from any user, regardless of age.
Changes to This Policy
If we ever update this Privacy Policy, the new version will be posted on this page with an updated date. Given our zero-data-collection approach, substantive changes are unlikely.
